Composers in Time – Finzi and Howells meet on Chosen Hill

A whole day event at Churchdown, Nr. Gloucester, and on Chosen Hill adjacent to our Churchdown venue.

The music, the location and the friendship was shared between these Composers and we would like to share this with you. All are warmly welcome.

Chosen Hill was a favourite location for both composers and has many associations with other Gloucestershire poets and composers such as Ivor Gurney. We are arranging to welcome a Celebrity speaker to talk on the Finzi/Howells association and an afternoon concert with Gareth Brynmor John and Gavin Roberts, familiar from their appearances at Ludlow English Song Weekend and leading concert venues.

We invite you to join us for a day on Chosen Hill and Churchdown, under the hill. There will be a talk in St Bartholomew’s at the top of the hill during the morning, and lunch and a recital in the spacious and comfortable facilities at St Andrew’s Church.

Everyone is welcome to come! Please extend an invitation to friends who are not members of Finzi Friends.

Tickets are £38 each, including morning coffee; a two-course buffet lunch with a glass of wine and coffee; farewell tea and cakes; and all the day’s events.
There will be a vegetarian option.

The lane up to Chosen Hill is very narrow so we suggest you leave your car at St Andrew’s; we shall then ferry people up Chosen Hill to the Church at the top. There is, however, a car park at the top. If it is a nice day you can walk up to the top, it is a manageable walk.
There is a lavatory on Chosen Hill.
